Education is a Message; Love, Light and the Written Word - Public mural in West Philadelphia

Spanning a 20’ x 200’ block wall at the intersection of S. 49th and Spruce Streets, this mural was born from a series of community meetings where neighbors shared their visions for a public artwork centered on education. In response, I developed a design that explores learning as a dynamic, human experience—using birds, light, and books as symbolic vehicles of knowledge passed from one person to another through conversation and connection. Interwoven throughout the piece are themes of self-reflection, intellectual growth, and the journey from youth to maturity. The mural stands as a visual dialogue between the community and the transformative power of education.
